How to Fix The ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT Error

What is ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT?

Sometimes while using Google Chrome browser, a great message error appears stating that: This web page is not available: ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT. This message represents that the server is taking a long time to respond to Chrome and is unable to fetch the required data from the web to the browser.

The ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT ERROR occurs when the browser has network issues, caches, cookies, bad network, etc.

Try refreshing the page to get rid of this error. if the error still appears on your screen try the following given ways to fix it.

Fix 1- ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT ERROR? Try checking the network cables.

The first thing after receiving this error you should do is to check your internet connection or the Wi-Fi. Make sure that your wi-fi is well connected and if you are using a router check the network cable or restart your router.

Fix 2- ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT ERROR? Try clearing the browsing history.

Sometimes the unwanted cache files and cookies present in your browser might cause the ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT error. you can prevent this by clearing the browsing data history of your Google Chrome. Follow the below-mentioned steps to do so-

Step 1- OpenGoogle Chrome and click on the menu icon that is the three dots on the upper right corner. Select the option of more tools from the list given in front of you, choose the option of clear browsing data.

Step 2- Change the time range to all time and check on all the boxes under the clear browsing data window.

Fix 3- ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT ERROR? Try updating the network adaptors.

Sometimes if the network adaptor of your device is outdated, ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT error can occur. to avoid this try updating the network adaptor driver to the latest version available. The steps to do so mentioned below-

Step 1- Open device manager of Windows 10.

Step 2- Find your way to the network adaptors category and click on it to expand it.

Step 3- Right-click on the option of networking device and select the option of update driver.

Step 4- Your device automatically searches uninstall the new driver after you click on the search automatically for updated driver software or option.

Fix 4- ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT ERROR? Try checking the windows host files.

If the above-mentioned tricks do not work try checking the windows host file. The method to do so is mentioned below-

Step 1- Click on start and type notepad on the search panel. Now right click on the notepad option and click on the option to run it as administrator.

Step 2- Click on open after clicking on the File tab. select the options stating all types at the bottom right corner and then double-click on the host’s file.

Step 3- Delete all the website addresses or IP addresses mentioned after the last #line and save changes.

Try running Google Chrome and see whether the error has been fixed or not.

Fix 5- ERR CONNECTION TIMED OUT ERROR? Try adjusting the LAN settings.

Try checking and adjusting the LAN settings to delete this error. 

Step 1- SelectWindows + R keys on your keyboard to open the run dialogue box.

Step 2- Type inetcpl.cpl in the Run box and press enter to open the internet properties window.

Step 3- Click on the Connections tab and then the LAN settings option.

Step 4- Check on all three boxes and click on ok to save changes.
